MTG supplies the right components to meet the increased security requirements in the energy market. The legal requirements raise data communication to a new level of security in order to ensure the confidential and secure exchange of information and control commands between all market participants. The Smart Meter PKI in accordance with BSI TR-03109 provides the security infrastructure that enables smooth and protected communication between smart metering systems (SMGW) and the market roles involved. MTG supports all BSI TR-03109 regulated processes – from the production and management of smart meter gateways to CLS control, AS4-based MAKO and communication via the BDEW Web API.
1. Smart Meter PKI: MTG Metering CA is offered as a managed service by DARZ GmbH (CA) and is operated on-premise by leading energy suppliers. All the required certificate types are offered for the actors in the prescribed roles.
2. Encryption & communication: The MTG CryptoController provides quick and easy-to-use security that is compliant with all legal requirements. Based on a single, unified and high-performance security infrastructure, it can be used in a variety of ways for:
- SMGW manufacturer (GWH) for equipping initial production certificates,
- Gateway Administrators (GWA) for the secure administration of SMGW,
- smart meter data reception as a passive EMT (pEMT),
- CLS management as an active EMT (aEMT) with our innovative MTG Mehrwert-Konnektor
- AS4-based market communication (MAKO)
- and secure communication via the BDEW Web API for 24-hour supplier change (LFW24) and the transmission of switching commands.
3. CLS devices: The MTG CLS Stack was specifically developed to help IoT manufacturers quickly and easily connect their devices with smart meter gateways (SMGW) in compliance with regulations. With this powerful solution, MTG enables easy integration into the smart metering market and offers manufacturers a secure, future-oriented basis for the communication of their devices.
4. Hardware Security Modules (HSM): MTG integrates the necessary HSMs, vendor-independent, to meet the highest security standards and legal requirements. This ensures that your IT infrastructure complies with the strictest regulations, providing reliable and legally compliant security.
